Don t share anything with them, rather tell them you ll go directly to the company s offices for the update or you ll call the company directly yourself. Or, you can ask them to give you the information they want to update to check if they indeed have your information in the first place.

If you didn t enter a competition but you receive a message saying you have won money, it is probably a scam that will steal your identity or money. Always put your identity document in a safe place if you re not using it. Lastly, make sure no one knows or sees your bank card pin when withdrawing money.

It is every individual s responsibility to protect themselves against identity theft and fraud. Other states, however, offer services that put on extra protection against identity and personal information theft.
