Glen A. Larson created the original American science fiction franchise in 1978 that started as Battlestar Galactica, the original television series, which was followed in 1980 with a sequel TV series. Many mini-series have been started throughout the years until the present since it was resurrected in 2003.
Various types of entertainment have grown along with the Battlestar Galactica television productions to include things such as book adaptations, board games, novels, video games as well as comic books. The basis of the story for all the various forms of entertainment productions centers around the basis that a group of planets called the Twelve Colonies exist in a distant part of our galaxy and are inhabited by a human civilization. A cybernetic race of beings known as Cylons have been working to exterminate the human race, including these people who migrated from the ancestral world of Kobol and have been at war for decades with these people who now reside on what is referred to as the Twelve Colonies.
The Twelve Colonies undergo a massive attack from the Cylons who are guided by a human named Baltar. The twelve colonies are destroyed by this attack along with the Colonial Fleet of star ships that serve as their protection resulting in virtually their entire population being destroyed. The few struggling survivors flee into outer space aboard a few scattered available spaceships. The Battlestar Galactica was the one remaining piece of the entire Colonial battle fleet that was not wiped out, which luckily happened to be huge battleship and spacecraft carrier similar to the aircraft carries that we are familiar with today.
Commander Adama served as the leader of this massive spacecraft carrier along with the pilots who served as Viper fighters guiding this fleet of fugitive survivors in an attempt to find what is called Earth, the fabled thirteenth colony which was the goal of this search party in the developing saga. Game playing participants find the adventures of Battlestar Galactica provide challenging scenarios as they assume the roles of either Cylon or Human characters involved in the various plots.
Interacting with their favorite characters can easily immerse players in the exciting universe commandeering fighter ships and taking part in action packed tactical space combat while completing challenging missions. A huge variety of offensive and defensive systems are employed to assist in the battle between the Humans and Cylons forces in the search for the legendary home of the Thirteenth Tribe of Man commonly known as Earth as it is pursued by the civilian ships.
