What Is Cloud Storage And Cloud Backup?

By Bryant S. Cole

Since there are so many cloud services available these days, it can be a difficult decision when trying to pick the right one. If you do your homework and compare each service, you will be able to discover which one to go with that will fit your individual needs and desires.

One aspect of a cloud service is cloud backup. This is an important part of the service to consider. Cloud backup involves backing up files on your computer. But it also involves updating the new files that you create or change on a regular basis to ensure your computer is completely backed up.

An online backup system will generally run on a schedule. The user can determine how often backup is done and when it is done so that it will be a time that the computer is not normally being used. The data can be retained as long as the user desires, usually in 30 day increments. A file that is in a cloud backup will be encrypted and will not be simply downloaded when you want it back. It will need to be restored.

Files saved on a cloud service will be saved as you save them to your hard drive. This means you'll have full access to them via a quick download. This is a great option for users who only use cloud services to store copies of important files such as PDF documents for quick and easy access. Cloud storage services will keep all of your scanned documents in a secure location. You can also back up all of your family pictures, music, and video files on a cloud server. Plus you can have access to all of these files regardless of where you are and as long as you can connect to the web.

Cloud storage is a fantastic way for businesses to make sure their data is safe and protected. In many cases, computers and servers can have all of their files fully restored in case something happens to them. It takes only a couple of hours for a lot of cloud services to restore and reload all of the files and data for a business or an individual onto new machines. So if your computers are stolen or damaged in a flood or fire, you will be able to recoup everything that was on them because it would all be backed up.
